BlackBerry Cuts Jobs

7 New RIM Smartphones?!?!

First of all, sorry for all the BlackBerry-centric posting as of late. It's just that I am the "MobileVantage BlackBerry Guy" (Note: this is NOT my actual job title). Ted Gorsline, the iPhone guy, is on a bit of a vacation and has been seriously shirking his blogging responsibilities. If you are reading this Ted, it's time for an iPhone-related post. Give our readers what they want! But I digress.

As mobilesyrup recently reported, "RIM plans to unleash 7 new smartphones in the 'coming months'." Balsillie has apparently called this a "whole new generation of smartphones", even going so far as to call them "superphones". While this just might be, and likely is, another case of RIM hubris, a lineup of new and different smartphones is exactly what RIM needs. You can bet that some of these new phones will be complete duds, but I'm willing to put money on the fact that one of two might end up being rather fantastic products. Regardless, I'm curious to see what they release, and I'm even more curious to see how they market them. Should be an interesting time for RIM in the "coming months". And you know I'm excited!
